Range of selection of issues is highly commendable

“In the collection of short stories“ARTIST IN CONFUSION” Ashwini Ahuja views the society at large through the lens of a movie camera pausing occasionally to point out to the reader the sordid goings- on in the decadent society, to expose a rotting mind here and a distorted limb there.
The variety of social issues taken up in this collection is very comprehensive. He has dealt with various facets of male-female love, betrayal by one’s progeny or the so called gurus at the cost of sanctity of the pious relations, misplaced and whimsical zeal of certain characters and unwarranted submission to injustice where firm stand rather than meek submission should have been proper.
Ahuja hasn’t forgotten the neighborhood bullies too which adds some humor to the otherwise pedagogic tone of the collection.  He also highlights the mercenary mentality and hypocrisy of the society.  But he has scrupulously steered clear of crime, violence, kidnapping etc. which are not very palatable to many readers.
As such, he has included cheats, unscrupulous couples, bullies, lechers and so on but no mention of heinous crime. His range of selection of issues is highly commendable and his belief and conviction in human values and sincerity of diction add a soothing flavor to the stories and these things make the collection all the more readable.
I am sure the readers will welcome this book and would never regret the choice of buying this good book. I congratulate Mr. Ahuja on the service he is trying to render to the society. “

Ashwini’s stories observe the feelings of human emotions

“Ashwini Ahuja has very closely observed the feelings of the human emotions and depicted them very well in his stories. The essence of the relationship between a husband and a wife, a daughter and a mother, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law et al, has so well been sketched out in form of words” In one of the stories ‘Mystery of a Girl’, the confusions of a teenager’s mind when he is passing through the phase of his first attraction and his willingness to accumulate everything that requires him to get his love back, and finally ending with an unknown mystery of not being able to understanding a woman. The bewilderment, excitement, curiosity and fear of that occurs at this tender age are very clearly explained. ‘My wife is beautiful’ shows the immense hate that is filled in a woman’s heart, which keeps pouring out in the form of abusive language for her old and ailing mother-in-law.  Some women just hate their mother-in-laws; inspite of all the love they have for their husbands, for some reason they cannot come to accept their mother-in-laws in their lives. This is something that has been prevalent in our societies and will always remain. ‘For the sake of the Baby’ is the tale of a childless couple and their pains. The writer has well described the wife dilemma that wife goes through and finally decides to sleep with her friend’s husband to conceive a child and justified the wrongdoing. Well, not just the human emotions, the writer also talks about the ailments that are prevailing in the Indian society. ‘Leprosy’ is a tale of indomitable mission for eradicating leprosy ailment. Through this love story of matured couple, the writer wants to give a new vision to the society where the lady protagonist lies to her boyfriend so as she could grow him a great social activist.
