It appears that “Artist in Confusion” is based on writer’s life experiences. The book tells the accounts of love, hate; passion and disappointment altogether. Critics say that all the stories in this book are written with absorbing intelligence, sympathy, passion and enthusiasm.  In this book, you will see different shades of life. In the story Nightmarish Note, protagonist Sushma’s obsession in making relationships with an Australian guy and her obsession for “the well utilization of prize money” finally ends her into frustration and disillusionment.  Mystery of a Girl is a love story of teenage lovers which finally finishes up in fiasco due to the whims of the mystery girl. The egocentricity and bargaining in love highly prevails in the story. The story give a candid message if you are dishonest in relationship, you will gain nothing but for disillusionment, pain, distress and disappointment. When a Woman Dies with Locker Key shows an apathetic attitude of young sons towards their old, ailing mother. They have nothing to do with their mother if she doesn’t give them the property documents and bank locker key and they serve her in the only hope she might give them property and finance.

And finally, when they fail to grab the property documents, they refuse to give shoulder to the dead body of their mother that lady who had begot them. Shower…Showering gives a candid message to all those couples who play their fancies and whims in the presence of their growing kids. The prime message of this story is: as you sow so shall you reap. Goggles’ is a tale of sacrifice in love. It is a story of two lovers who can’t express their emotions to each other. The guy misunderstands his beloved was married in his absence when he had been away for earning his Ph. D from Allahabad University but the girl had lied to him down to the reason she had turned blind by an accident. Finally, the girl’s goggles revealed the truth and they united together. This story gives a message physical beauty values no cost if you are truly caring, passionate and loving towards your friend.
Leprosy’ is a tale of determined mission for eradicating leprosy ailment. Through this love story of matured couple, the writer delivers a fine message that love doesn’t hinder if you are determined in accomplishing any great mission. The story takes a new twist when the lady protagonist lies to her lover that she has married to an American Sir Anderson just to keep him busy in social work for leprosy outcasts and forget him and finally she succeeds in her mission when she watched on a TV channel the news of his achievements and it was that the USA government had picked him for prestigious Magsaysay Award.
The Killing Machine’ is an epitome of a cruel female character who seeks ecstasy in watching English Movie with her friends forgetting the real painful life picture of a cycle rickshaw puller who bruises himself at his leg during peddling while he carries her to cinema hall.
The Beautiful Mind’ reveals the beauty of mind of a spinster who prefers to get married with a limousine guy thanks to his beautiful mind. The story gives a message, virtues value more than riches. In love, finance and high profile status does not matter.
The Guru’ exposes the character of a village teacher who exploits his thirteen years old girl student in the garb of playing Holi and later in life; he is chastised by the command of his own conscience discarding his government job of a school teacher. ‘Sorry Sir’ is an amazing malady of a victimised, sloppy habits college teacher who becomes the victim to his own misdeeds and follies. “Betrayal’ gives us a feeling of pain and agony when we see a childhood chum deceiving his friend by playing havoc with the life of her marriageable daughter.
Once Beggar Always Beggar’ is simply a story of two friends turns hostile eventually where one is quick-ready to sacrifice for the other while the other abuses in return. By reading this story, one pertinent question arises: is humility the synonymous of the submissiveness? ‘Metamorphosis’ is a story of a young sister who is determined to mend her brother’s sordid habits of flirting with his office female colleagues and finally she succeeds in her mission.
‘Baby Doll’ points up the psychology of children. It gives a precise message for parents who become an obstruction in their freedom and cut short their childhood ecstasy in playing with toys. Baby Doll is a dialogue between a school going daughter and father. Father hopes her into attaining good marks while the baby girl dreams to play with doll. When she is deprived from doll, she shows poorer results in study. When her teacher buys her a new doll, she improves in study.
It is an adjustment’ shows the real adjustment between an ultra modern couple when they prefer to forget their old parents’ worries and ailments. Far how much we have become irresponsible and casual towards our parents and cheated them frequently. This short story gives very strong and fine message. ‘My wife is beautiful’ shows the cruelty of a beautiful lady who loves her husband but hates his mother. Jealousy between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is commonly prevalent in our middle class society which becomes the reasons of strain in family; this story depicts this message in an expressive and poignant manner.
An Artist in Confusion” shows the tension between husband and wife after the death of their prodigy son. Circumstances make the mother more responsible and father more careless but finally the couple overcomes their strain when the mother becomes again pregnant and gives birth to baby son to fill the gap.
In the story “I’m Sorry, Sister”, the author eloquently expounds the callous behaviour of a lady who claims to be the boss of all street families- the first resident in the newly constructed brick street and at last repents for her follies. The so-called boss of the street misbehaved with her maidservant only because she ask for lift in her salary but finally, when the same maid servant guard her daughter from the cruel hands of new male servant and even protects her from being raped by servant, the boss of the street tremendously humiliates and seeks apology from her for her wrong decision of removing maidservant. 
Stray Dog shows that if you are unemployed you are cursed; you command no respect either at your home or in the society. Your parents too damn your care at home. The story says that even stray dogs are better than the unemployed youths. For the sake of the Baby tells the agonies of a barren woman who sleeps with the husband of her friend to conceive a child and justified the wrongdoings.
